When I look out into my audience when I'm performing, there are so many different shades, ethnicities-- I can't wait until androids and cyborgs come to my shows
I haven't been so moved by a person's work since i started listening to Fiona Apple and The Beatles. I am inspired. The Arch Android has become one of my favorite albums of all time. It's magic. It's so ahead of it's time yet still kissed by the past. The big band in the background, the jazzy vocals, the campy themes. & the story. It's such a beautiful tale. If you don't know already Monae takes on the role of android Cindi who has committed the ultimate crime of falling in love with a human, Anthony Greendown. When you read interviews with Monae it is as if this world created in her art is entirely her real life. When asked by Rolling Stone if she dated women she replied "the lesbian community has tried to claim m as theirs but I only date androids. They ever cheat on you." With a straight face. In all her interviews she is poised an collected rarely smiling. But its so intriguing. The bizarreness doesn't seemed contrived or put on like another certain eccentric female PoP Star because if you look at early foootage of Monae she has always been so unique and always singing about the robot Cindi. I guess my point is that she is really a breath of fresh air. And I am excited by her. I hope i get to live to see the rest of her progression. If you haven't yet give the album a try. I dare to say it was better than even Badu's latest effort.
